Alternatives to the Prevention of Political Literature: Beta Project V. 1.01 or Is Political Language Propaganda that Brings Us Closer to the Truth? with Richard Duffee (Part 2 of 2)

Today on New Focus, we welcome back attorney, activist and poet Richard Duffee.
Richard will tell us about his book of poetry, entitled: “The Slow News of Need.”
Richard Duffee will read some of his poems, and show why literature can be both political and historical.
Richard will also give us some context and some insight into why poetry became separated from reality in our modern world, and what is behind this ahistorical development.
We’ll even tell you:

  • about the circular economic and political themes in US history;
  • how those themes have been reflected in the works of modern day poets;
  • how words can be used to create power for the powerless;
  • and how literature can empower all of us with a new understanding and insight into what is right in front of our faces.
